"Starting over. In the old days if you messed up somehow you could just pack up and move to a new city and have a fresh start but these days everything you do follows you… you have to be a lot more careful." -
2.
"Buying a house" "My Dad’s been practicing law since the early 60s. He jokes that when he started, a real estate transaction literally had two documents to sign. I think I had 30+ things to sign when I bought mine." -
3.
"Doing anything that requires you to call customer service. Companies are so big and their customer service departments are so fractured that it’s easy to get sucked into a cycle of “that’s not my job, you need X department.” “Oh, that has to be done online through your account settings.” “Unfortunately I can’t help you with this because I don’t have permission to access it so you will need to contact your HR department.”" -
4.
"Getting ON a commercial flight. Used to be you showed up maybe half an hour before your flight, ran your carry-on through the x-ray, walked through a metal detector, and that was it." -
5.
"Finding a job. I used to just walk into businesses with a resume and typically get hired on the spot. Now everything is online, and you have to jump through hoops just to land an interview and likely hear nothing back afterward. Applying online should be an option, not a requirement." -
6.
"Surviving on one income." -
7.
"Just getting away for a couple of days. It’s next to impossible to just kind of vanish for a while. You’ll have 100 emails to answer when you get back, parents who are convinced you’ve died, friends who want to know where you are. I swear, out of all the awesomeness that I experienced on a nice cruise a few years ago, easily the best part was just turning my phone off for 7 days and not giving a s@#t what time it was." -
8.
"Buying a household appliance. Why the f@#k is there so much choice, I just want something to do a simple job, and I don’t want 50 different buttons or dials or programs on it. Modern washing machines and dishwashers have more complications than a frickin nuclear reactor." -
9.
"Mannnnn when I was a kid we used to jump on the trampoline all day and have no issues… I tried doing it yesterday with my nephew for his birthday… MANNNNN I couldn’t do it for long I was running out of breath quick! God, I miss that kid energy." -
10.
"Staying generally anonymous in life, without being able to be found." -
11.
"Finding a username that is not already taken." -
12.
"Paying for an education. Back in the day you could work for a summer to pay that year’s university tuition, no student loans needed." -
13.
"Moving out. A lot of us these days are in our 20s and still living at home because the cost of living in a whole lot of places is becoming astronomically high and decently paying jobs are getting harder and harder to come by." -
14.
"Faking death and buying a new identity." -
15.
"Keeping your phone charged. MF’in Nokia lasted a week on a charge." -
16.
"I don’t have any social media. It’s a good life. Join us." -
17.
"Having a civil disagreement."
